Since the 1950s, the consumption of natural resources exploded and related emissions e.g. CO2 have increased by more than 700%. This is driven by a population that has doubled combined with a much higher increase in economic activity per capita. Economic growth is good news, we just need to understand and respect the boundaries that will ensure that we can live on our common resources in prosperity for many generations to come.
